At panjab university premises, this place is heaven for readers and learners. It is best place for study. It is 4 floor library. There are so many books, reading area, newspaper area, and huge book section. Ground floor is common reading area and it is so crowded all the time. Proper Air conditioning, water and clean toilet facility is available at this library. It is only for panjab university students. You can only enter this library via your library card. Proper checking is done before entry.

The place where an aspirant spent his whole day to get success in life. You can study whole night in the reading hall. A large collection of book and is renowned in the region. You can get previous year question papers of University and semester exams. This is the place where if you get hungry, you can go to Student-centre (aka Stu-C) and have some food, snacks or tea, coffee.

The reading room is really good and can easily say that only reason why I may have passed many examinations is that the place was open all night. But beware as the place is housefull on exam nights and will have to sit on the ground or outside if do not reach early. Also the tea and matthi outside the room are just a bliss at 4 AM in the morning.

I guess for PU students more than any cafeteria or canteen , AC JOSHI LIBRARY would be the most visited place..Students who seriously go there to study can catch the peaceful and calm vibes ..It had been one of the best library I have visited .. Fully AC and comfortable sitting facilities.. and moreover the whole staff had been really co operative during my 3-day visit.

Libraries help people of all age to develop healthy habit of reading and introspection. It increases their quest for knowledge and provides exposure to a sea of information. Libraries play a vital role in literature survey for a good research on different subjects and different fields. A.C Joshi Library is no different. It has huge and lovely collection of writings spanning from language, humanities, natural science, and every other aspect. The library has many spacious reading rooms providing reading space for thousands of students of Panjab University. These reading rooms are secured with the help of dozens of CCTV cameras. Wifi connections are available in every nook and corner of the library which is providing acces to internet for the students.. The five storyed impressive Library building in red stone and concrete is based on modern principles of architecture. Its modular and functional style fulfills the purpose of a planned Library. While all the reading areas face the North, the Staff Area is on the South side, with the Stack Area being in between. Its two main Reading Halls facing the Shivalik Hills afford a panoramic view of the natural surroundings.

The Panjab University was established at Lahor, Pakistan in 1888. However, after partition, it’s offices were being shifted to Punjab Chandigarh by the Indian Government. The foundation Stone of establishment of the A. C Joshi Library was laid down by then Vice- President of India Dr S. Radhakrishnan in 1958. The name of this Library was kept after the name of renowned Vice-Chancellor Prof. A.C Joshi. It was officially inaugurated by then PM of India 🇮🇳 Pt. Jawaharlal Nehru in 1963. The neat and clean, well maintained library has more than 6 lakhs volumes, collection of rare documents, Govt gazettes, Magazines, Maps, Journals, catalogue facilities to the reader and many other important books and documents. The five storey building has around 500 seats capacity for readers and students with fully equipped with modern architect and technological driven infrastructure not only for students but also for scholars and teachers for their uninterrupted and continue research works… the rectangular shaped building has entrance area on the south side side…. It provides 24*7 fully facilities to the students for their reading and study materials 📚…. Just opposite of this library has beautiful round building called Student Centre- a good place to sit and have something refreshments and meals after studying …. This place has produced many scholars, bureaucrats and Politicians, social workers who served and many of them currently serving India 🇮🇳in many fields …. Worth place to sit and have some reading 📖….
